on sunday me and dad went to the a&m-oklahoma state soccer game for the big xii championship finals. it was really fun going with him 'cause even though hes a ut fan, he likes watching the women play soccer. 'cause they rock more than the men. thats right.
it was kinda cool to watch the fans in the stands and the team across the field. they "humped it" just like at football games and did a couple yells. it was cool.
they played better in the second half but it was still the same as the first, if that makes sense..they did less of kickball and dribbled a little more and actually had shots on goal. but still missed some great opportunities to put the ball in the net, which is INCREDIBLY frustrating to watch. i can vouch from personal experience. game ended 0-1, oklahoma state cowgirls.
so t-ravs back in town. he got in yesterday i think.
oh yea. great morning.
cant wait for firefighting tomorrow night. it rocks. i need to get some navy blue dickies pants still.
ok bye.
me and him started walking around looking at all the stuff i had already seen, and then he asked if i had talked to anyone yet. i said no, so we went off to find someone avaliable. we just kinda waited our turn while standing by another engine looking at tall the ladder extended and stretched into the sky above the building beside it. it seemed to reach for the sun. then a guy in navy blue dickeys pants and a yellow shirt that said "volunteer firefighter" on the back came up and asked how we were doing and if we were having fun and such. we greeted him and were happy someone found us instead. my dad did all the talking and knew all the right questions to ask. thank god. i wouldve been like, "uhh..i like your truck. its big and red and shoots water." the guy who talked to us was a volunteer and had been for..was it 6 months now? sure. he told us about how if i wanna volunteer, theres classes and training every thursday night from 700-900pm and to just show up and after 4 weeks, i'll get my own yellow shirt :D. from there, i'd have a status of trainee, prohby (prohbation), and then after a number of hours put in and such, i'd be a full on firefighter. then i get navy blue shirt. teehee. i think its after i become a firefighter or a prohby, that i'm assigned a leutinant. my dad asked if there was further education like the academy that i would need, and the guy said if he were to go to the academy himself, there wouldnt be much he'd learn that he already didnt know from volunteering at the station. he said he'd already learned more than he expected and it was a lot just being at the station. then in the middle of this, a couple kids started to climb up the ladders and on top of the fire engine, so the guy we were talking to had to excuse himself to get the kids down so they wouldnt fall and break their necks. retarded parents. way to pay attention. dont make me add you to my last entry. anywho. after he climbed up there to help the kids down, a line started to form 'cause parents and their kids thought that he was letting everyone take turns climbing up. then it actually turned into that so me and my dad had to find another firefighter to finish talking to. we walked over to a bigger guy. he was the batallion cheif there and his name was tom white. i swear to god, he was the jolliest man i've ever met. he was so funny. he was so helpful and encouraging and warmfelt. he said stuff like, "its so much fun!! we're a big family that does stuff together, and we have a lot of family events too!! so much fun, then when theres a fire we have to get serious again. but then we have fun again!!" it was hilarious. he told us about how many benefits there are, and how they pay for education if you go to SAC, and how they take a week long trip up to college station to the fire school up there, and how they pay for EMT school..i think. there was a lot of stuff he threw at us, but it all sounded great to my dad, which means he approves of my career choice. at the same time, i was having a blast talking to tom and receiving all this information, and getting more and more excited by the minute. he left us for a few minutes to get me an application to become a volunteer and told me again to just show up thursday night from 700-900pm with the filled out app., my shot record, and my drivers license.
anyone else notice a bunch of IRRESPONSIBILITY going on? particularly in the news..
now onto the airline pilots. whether you were sleeping (which i'm putting my money on), or you were "having a heated discussion", which caused you to pass your landing point by 150 miles, you are completely careless when you have an entire jet full of passengers in your hands. they trust you have the skill and knowledge of what to do and what not to do while in the air. that pisses me off. you had several people from airports calling in to find out where the hell you were, but there was no answer. you most likely caused further delays in flights and take-offs, while probably screwing over a lot of your passengers who had other flights to get to. seriously, what could you have possibly been "discussing"? maybe what happens on LOST next season? they're still on the island. they're not going no where. someone will probably die though. theres been at least one death every season, so i wouldnt doubt it. but whatever it was, it must've been good to skirt your duties and responsibilities. way to go,
so yea. never wrote that paper. i'll do it later. what was the word thats supposed to get me through everyday college life?
i talked to my boss about how i was just thinking about what i wanted to do for the a&m vs. ut game, and how i wanted to make it into a weekend trip as well. yeaa shot down..she said that her bosses said that all the employees will be working the day after thanksgiving. fml. my boss felt bad that i wouldnt be able to do the whole trip like i wanted, but said maybe i could still go and just come back for friday. she even said she could probably schedule me later in the day if that would help. cool.
you gotta count the money in the register at opening, and closing.
you gotta fill out a sheet for the sales of the day.
you gotta print out the receipts for the credit cards and tape that to the sheet of the sales, then fax that to corperate.
you gotta compare what was made to the actual goal, on a different sheet of paper of course.
you gotta write down all the makings that day from cash, credit cards, with tax, without tax, ect..
i'm pretty sure theres more, but SHOCKER, i probably forgot one or two pages of paperwork. which makes the confusion even BETTER, all these papers are in a binder. cool. but my boss flips through the pages so freakin' fast i dont even know where the papers are in the binder. not cool. i'm gonna forget.
